Geography

The town of Červený Kostelec is situated in the Náchod region (in the district of Hradec Králové), approx. 10 km northeast of Náchod. In the northwest, it neighbours upon villages in the Trutnov region. The town is located in a densely populated region with direct connections to nearby towns in the Náchod region (Hronov, Náchod, Česká Skalice) and the Trutnov region (Úpice and Rtyně v Podkrkonoší). A picturesque wavy country of the area under the Giant Mountains, with its beautiful forests and big ponds Špinka and Brodský (in neighbouring Zábrodí) is very attractive for summer recreation and tourism – not only for citizens of the town and its suburban areas, but also for many foreign visitors.

Biogeographic location

The town of Červený Kostelec lies in an altitude ranging from approx. 315 m above the sea level in the area near the Úpa River in Lhota za Červeným Kostelcem in the western part; in approx. 598 m in Horní Kostelec in the northeastern part, and in approx. 415 m above the sea level in the square.

Climate

The area of Červený Kostelec belongs to the area of moderately warm climate, in a moderately humid, hilly country with a mild winter.
