Červený Kostelec is a starting point to a beautiful country

The town of Červený Kostelec is situated in a picturesque hilly country of the eastern Krkonoše foothills in the centre of the Trutnov – Náchod region. Its population remained on 8.500 in recent years. The town is located in an altitude of about 400 metres ASL, in the southwestern foothills of the Jestřebí mountains and is natural starting point to one of the most beautiful regions of the Czech republic – the country of hills, forests, river valleys, ponds, panoramic views of the Krkonoše mountains (Krkonoše) and the Eagle Mountains (Orlické hory), Table mountains (Stolové hory) and Adršpach Rock town. From hillocks around the town, there are beautiful views, which inspire citizens, visitors, tourists, cyclists, nature lovers, painters and photographers to strolls around a beautiful country. In the east, there are cornered hills of the border Table mountains (Stolové hory) – Bor and Hejšovina that attract you. A view over Dobrošov above Náchod is closed by the Eagle mountains (Orlické hory) with a peak Deštná on horizon. To the south, a view of “the country” opens out. This way the people from Kostelec call the country with sparkling surface of the Rozkoš dam, spreading from Česká Skalice to plains around the Labe river near Jaroměř. In days with a good visibility, with a telescope, it is possible to look from Hradec Králové, Kunětická mountain (Kunětická hora), Polabiny in Pardubice to the Iron mountains (®elezné hory) and the Czech and Moravian highlands (Českomoravská vrchovina). To the west, there are dense forests of the Barchoviny stretching over the Úpa valley, covered with fog. Behind them, two mountains, Zvičina and ®alý are elevating from the Krkonoše foothills to make you look up to the highest mountains in the Czech republic – the Krkonoše mountains (Krkonoše). Dark shade of the rounded Black mountain (Černá hora) and the Light mountain (Světlá hora), covered with forest, contrast with a sharp peak of the Snow mountain (Sněľka), which is often covered with snow. A view of the north side is blocked by the Jestřebí mountains (Jestřebí hory). From peaks of the nearby Jestřebí mountains (Jestřebí hory) – Krkavčina, Švédský vrch, or ®altman, you can glance over forests together with the Adršpach-Teplice Rock towns (Adršpašsko-Teplická skalní města, Broumovské stěny, border Javoří mountains (Javoří hory) ,the highest peak in Náchod region – Ruprechtický špičák, as well as the Silver mountains (Stříbrné hory) in Poland and Kladský koutek.
